CountryHere at Awareness Driver Training we strive to invest our time in people’s needs. It is a fact that some people learn to drive because of peer pressure at earlier stages of their lives, and so have no desire to drive any great distances. However, as time progresses, the state and volume of Britain’s roads change. The volume has increased from 22 million vehicles using our roads in 1981, to 33 million in 2001. Road space is of a premium.

It is for this reason that at Awareness Driver Training, we recognise the need to re-introduce certain techniques in driving practices, and so offer refresher courses in the following:-

  • Motorway &
    Dual Carriageway
  • Parking
  • Night
    Driving
  • Country Road
    Driving
Motorway

To assist in the development of maintaining progress, and recognise the dangers of not being aware of the surroundings and placement of other vehicles.

To make aware of the hazards of both crossing and emerging traffic.

Overtaking safely, avoiding the possibility of having to make others slow down, or swerve whilst travelling at speed, keeping safe distances from the vehicle in front.

Breakdown procedures and use of Hard Shoulder facilities.

Recognising where it is safe, legal and convenient to park on a road, taking into consideration Clearway Zones, Red Routes, yellow lines loading and unloading regulations and other restrictions.

Parking in a marked space correctly, forwards and in reverse, on a road, and in a car park.

Recognition of hazards, dealing with dazzle, and using lights correctly. Correct road position and judgement of speed. Risks from wildlife.

Understanding and reading the road and the sharpness of bends by reading ‘Limit points’.

  • Dealing with the risks of wild life
  • Use of lights during the daytime
  • Dealing with the 'Dapple Effect'
  • Dealing with approach speeds to corners, cambers and tyre trade off

As time goes on our reactions change and the pace of life can start to overtake us. These courses are designed to keep the driver in touch with the volumes of traffic and to deal with the ever increasing size of vehicles, vehicle design, engine size and rate of acceleration, and are available to anyone who feels that they need to ‘brush up’.
